Brancaia is the name of a Tuscan winery that can boast of a heritage of 80 hectares of vineyards located in the Chianti Classico and Maremma. The winery was born in 1981, when the Swiss Brigitte and Bruno Widmer bought an abandoned farm in Castellina in Chianti and transformed it into a modern and important winery.
The Brancaia winery is now led by his daughter Barbara Widmer, oenologist, responsible for the vineyards and the entire production, assisted by the oenologist Carlo Ferrini. The vast properties of the winery are articulated around three poles: the original one of Brancaia in Castellina in Chianti, that of Poppo in Radda in Chianti and that of the Maremma, between the sea and Grosseto. These are three very heterogeneous geographical areas, from which the Widmer family has always managed to produce authentic and territorial wines, focusing on innovation and quality.
Brancaia wines are today considered as great enological expressions of Tuscany. In fact, from the passion of Barbara and her parents, prestigious and precious wines were born, such as Blu Brancaia, the top wine of the cellar, able to best summarize the great peculiarities of Tuscany, or Ilatraia, born in the expressive terroir and wild of the Maremma.
